About The Bridge
Merlins Bridge are a Welsh football club from Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire in the southwest of Wales. We currently play in the Pembrokeshire League Division One. We are one of the league's most successful clubs, having been since the 1945–46 season, won the Division One championship eleven times and not forgetting winning the West Wales Cup in 2018/2019 season at Swansea City.
Merlin’s Bridge entered the Pembrokeshire league back in 1963/64 when the home ground was in Merlin’s Bridge playing field.
The Bridge had 17 seasons in the playing fields before moving to the lower racecourse in September 1981.
The lower racecourse has brought the club a lot of success over the years, including league titles, cups including the West Wales Cup, senior cups and other division cups. In 2022 although it’s a sad time, leaving so many memories behind, there were some very exciting times ahead.
This season all senior home games are going to be played at The Pembrokeshire Sports Village. This is the brand new custom built 4G pitch being built at Haverfordwest High.
The club are absolutely delighted to be able to make use of such a great facility. This offers us a full season of home games not being called off, changing rooms, barrier around the pitch and hard standing for supporters.
The club would like personally thank Pembrokeshire County Council for their help and support during this time and accommodating the clubs needs.
Season 2023/24 all going well the club will be playing all their games back where it all started many a decade ago in Merlin’s Bridge.
To get to this point the club owe a lot of thanks to Councillor John Cole as well as both councils in Merlin’s Bridge for their time, support and funding towards this project. Kelly Ellis for sorting the paperwork side of things. Kevin Thomas our junior chairman / secretary for all his time and effort spent on this project. Kevin and his wife Karen have been running the junior section of this club for many years.
Over the past few seasons the club have produced some very talented footballers at senior level and this comes down to Kevin’s dedication towards junior football.
A fenced in pitch will be laid to a very high standard. This is phase one. Phase two will see a second pitch added.
We look forward to the exciting times ahead at the bridge and we welcome you all to come along and support the club.

Few Words From Our Chairman
Merlin’s Bridge a.f.c is one of the long established amateur football clubs in Pembrokeshire. Over the years has been very successful with the most recent win being the West Wales intermediate cup. The club is currently going through transition on and off the field. With a three year plan well underway.
The clubs structure on the field is the key to our successful future. Our junior teams start from under 7’s through to under 16’s. Currently we have two senior teams playing in the first and second divisions of the Pembrokeshire league. Last season and this season we have currently seven or eight under eighteen years of age playing in our senior teams. These players have come through our juniors two years ago after great work done from our junior section leader Kevin Thomas. These players and many more are the future of this club. Season 22/23 we managed to appoint a top class manager for our first team. JK has worked at many professional academy’s and managed in the non league in England before moving to Pembrokeshire. With JK’s guidance, experience and knowledge this will only push our younger senior players and future junior players to another level. With a mix of our senior players and young seniors there certainly is a great squad to work with.
Off the field we are currently playing on a top class 4G facility pitch in the Pembrokeshire village. The village offers great facilities, this is our temporary home while we work and develop our new pitch in Merlin’s Bridge. Around 60 years ago the football team started out playing their home games in Merlin’s Bridge park. In the early 80’s the club moved to the lower race course and had been there ever since. It was always the aim of the club to move back down to the bridge and make it a fortress it once was. The club house will contain four dressing rooms, referees room and a club room. Thanks to hard work from our many volunteers this is well underway.

We must also remember all the hard work done by our previous hard working committee going back generations. We would not be the club we are today without their hard work. Dave Edwards, Roy Pat, Dekker, Ceri Morgs just to name a few. There are many more I could write. From myself and Merlin's Bridge AFC we will be forever in your debt for setting the foundations for us today.
The future of the club on and off the field is very bright. I can only thank everyone for their continued support. The strong committee, coaches, managers and other volunteers that we are so lucky to have on board, that keep pushing this amazing football club forward.
